Ayodhya (Uttar Pradesh) [भारत]July 6 (ANI): According to sources, a meeting of Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust is scheduled to be held on Monday at 3 pm in the temple premises amid the ongoing controversy over alleged embezzlement of temple donations.
According to sources, the meeting will be presided over by Trust Chairman Nritya Gopal Das. Trustees like Treasurer Govind Dev Giri, Vishwaprasannatirtha, Swami Parmanand Giri, Jagadguru Vasudevanand Saraswati, Krishna Mohan, Anil Mishra and General Secretary Champat Rai are expected to attend it. Ex-officio member District Magistrate Shashank Tripathi, Uttar Pradesh Home Secretary Sanjay Prasad, Central Government representative Prashant Lokhande and Construction Committee Chairman Nripendra Mishra are also likely to be present.
Sources said that Trust member K. Parasaran can attend the meeting through video conferencing. However, sources also say that in view of the health condition of Chairman Nritya Gopal Das, there is uncertainty about his participation in the meeting.
The meeting comes at a time when the controversy has sparked a sharp political confrontation, with opposition parties demanding a probe while the BJP accuses him of targeting Hindu faith.
‘If there is theft, even death penalty is acceptable’
Earlier, while speaking to ANI on the alleged case of Ram temple donation embezzlement, Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust member Dinendra Das had said that if theft has taken place at the place of Ram Lalla, even death penalty will be accepted as punishment. He said, “The Trust will accept whatever verdict is pronounced… If theft has taken place at Ramlala’s place, even death sentence will be accepted as punishment.”
Meanwhile, ahead of the important temple meeting, Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust trustee Krishna Mohan and VHP central secretary Rajendra Singh ‘Pankaj’ reached Ayodhya’s Vaidehi Bhawan, where Govind Devagiri Maharaj is staying.
5 accused will be interrogated in the investigation
On the other hand, progress has been made in the investigation of alleged donation theft. Police sources said that Ayodhya Police has taken permission from the court to interrogate five of the eight accused lodged in jail.
Accused Anukalp Mishra, Lavkush Mishra, Ram Shankar Yadav, Karunesh Pandey and Manish Yadav will be interrogated inside the jail and their statements will be officially recorded.
Champat Rai got support from Ayodhya Sant Mandal
Ayodhya Sant Mandal has also extended its support to Champat Rai, General Secretary of Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust and has urged the Trust not to accept his resignation. (ANI)
