Agneepath Scheme Latest Update: Great news for Agniveer! Army gave new offer of permanent job – News Himachali News Himachali

News of great relief for lakhs of Agniveers has come to light regarding the Agneepath Scheme. According to media reports, the Indian Army, Navy and Air Force have proposed to induct more Agniveers who have completed four years of service into permanent service.

At present there is a provision to keep only 25 percent firefighters in regular service, but now serious consideration is being given to increasing this limit. The first Agniveer batch is going to complete its tenure this year, so this proposal can prove to be a big change related to the future of the youth.

What changes does the top leadership of the army want in the Agneepath scheme?
According to the report, the three armies have proposed to the Central Government to increase the retention rate of Agniveer. The Indian Navy has given the biggest proposal and has demanded to include 75 percent of Agniveer in regular service. The Indian Army and Air Force have suggested increasing the current 25 percent limit to 50 percent. This proposal comes at a time when the first batch recruited under the Agneepath scheme is moving towards completing its four-year tenure.

Why was the need felt to keep more Agniveers in permanent service?
The armed forces believe that it is not practical to release a large number of soldiers who have been trained and experienced in four years. Requires lengthy training on modern weapon systems, technological platforms and specialized military skills. In such a situation, maintaining more trained human resources will strengthen the operational capability of the army and the expenditure on training can be better utilized.

Shortage of soldiers in the army also became a big reason
It has been said in the report that there is an estimated shortage of about 1.8 lakh personnel in the Indian Army. Keeping this in mind, a plan is being made to increase the number of Agniveer recruitment in future. In the last recruitment cycle, around 70 thousand Agniveers were included, while in the next phase this number may reach around 90 thousand. This will help in meeting the human resource needs of the Army.

Has the government approved the proposal?
At present, no official announcement has been made by the Central Government or the Defense Ministry in this regard. According to reports, the proposal will first be discussed at the Department of Military Affairs (DMA) level. Only after this is there a possibility of a final decision. Therefore, no formal order has been issued yet regarding increasing the retention.

What is Agneepath Scheme?
The Central Government had launched the Agneepath Scheme in June 2022. Under this scheme, youth in the age group of 17.5 to 21 years are recruited in the Army, Navy and Air Force for four years. In the first recruitment cycle after Covid-19, the maximum age limit was increased to 23 years. The youth who are recruited are called ‘Agniveer’.

What do Agniveers get after four years?
As per existing rules, a maximum of 25 per cent of Agniveers from each batch can be inducted into regular service depending on the performance and requirement of the organisation. The remaining Agniveers are given service fund packages, skill certificates and other employment support benefits so that they can get better opportunities in the civilian sector. Apart from this, life insurance cover of Rs 48 lakh is also provided during the service period.

Why was there controversy regarding Agneepath Scheme?
After the launch of Agneepath Scheme, many questions were raised regarding job security, pension system and employment prospects after four years. Protests also took place in many states including Bihar and Uttar Pradesh. Opposition parties had also criticized the plan and expressed concern about the future of the youth. However, the government has been saying that this scheme has been started with the aim of making the army younger and more technically capable.

Why is this proposal important for fire fighters?
If the proposal to increase the retention percentage is approved, a large number of fire fighters may get the opportunity of a permanent military career. This will reduce many concerns regarding job security and can also strengthen the confidence of the youth towards the Agneepath Scheme. At present, all eyes are on the final decision of the Defense Ministry and the Central Government.
