The device is expected to become the fifth model in the Xiaomi 17 series, joining the Xiaomi 17, 17 Pro, 17 Pro Max, and the 17 Ultra.
And based on the latest leak, the Max version could end up being the one people talk about the most.
According to tipster Digital Chat Station, the Xiaomi 17 Max will focus heavily on battery and charging, even more than the rest of the lineup.
A Huge Battery With Fast Charging to Match
The big headline here is the battery. The Xiaomi 17 Max is tipped to pack an 8,000mAh battery, which is far larger than what you usually see in a flagship phone. That kind of capacity alone would already make it stand out, but Xiaomi may be pairing it with very fast charging too.
The leak claims the phone will support 100W wired charging and 50W wireless charging. If that holds up, it means the 17 Max could recharge quickly despite having such a large battery.
A More Simple Design Than the Pro Models
Unlike the Pro and Pro Max, the Xiaomi 17 Max isn’t expected to come with a secondary rear display. Instead, its back design is said to be closer to the standard Xiaomi 17, which suggests a cleaner and more straightforward look.
So while it may be the biggest phone in the lineup, it won’t be trying to look overly flashy.
Camera Setup Gets a Boost
Camera-wise, the Xiaomi 17 Max is tipped to get a periscope telephoto camera. It’s also expected to use the same OmniVision Light Fusion 950 main sensor as the Xiaomi 17.
Big Display and Familiar Performance
Up front, the Xiaomi 17 Max is expected to come with a large flat OLED display, measuring either 6.8 inches or 6.9 inches. The bezels are said to be very thin on all sides, giving it a more immersive look.
Like the rest of the Xiaomi 17 lineup, it should run on the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chipset, so performance won’t be any different from the Pro or Ultra models.
Launch Timing Is Still a Question
Right now, the Xiaomi 17 Max is rumored to launch in China around April. There’s no word yet on whether it will be released globally. The engineering prototype has been spotted in white, but Xiaomi hasn’t revealed any other color options so far.
