New Delhi: The Dell XPS lineup, which stands for ‘Extreme Performance System’ has made a comeback at CES 2026. The flagship consumer sub-brand for premium, high-end laptops was sunset along with the Inspiron and Latitude lineups as part of a rebranding announced at CES 2025, where the names were simplified so that customers could more easily understand the positioning and value proposition. At CES 2026, Dell unveiled the new XPS 14 and XPS 16 laptops, that were rebuilt from the ground up. These devices boast of striking design, speedy performance, impressive displays, and exceptional battery life. The devices are crafted from premium materials such as CNC aluminium and Gorilla Glass.
The unibody design integrates the structural side walls into the base, that enhances rigidity and durability. For the first time, the XPS branding is on the lid, which is a change that XPS fans have been demanding for years. The keyboard has been finetuned for accuracy and speed with optimised key travel and tactile feedback. The devices are powered by the Intel Core Ultra Series 3 processors, with a redesigned thermal system. The fans are the largest and thinnest by Dell, and the laptops themselves are the thinnest offered by Dell, measuring 14.6 mm. The laptops are available with optional tandem OLED with enhanced brightness and a cinematic quality. The base models use more efficient 2K LCDs.
Competition to the MacBook Air
The XPS series is positioned as a direct competition of the MacBook Air, with the XPS 14 being more compact than the MacBook Air 13, taking up less desk space and providing more screen real estate. The keyboard is easy to remove, and these are the first XPS devices to feature modular USB-C ports, which makes repairs easier, and extends the operational lifespan of the PCs. The devices are also a responsible choice for the environment, meeting the EPAT 2.0 standards. The devices use recycled steel, cobalt and copper. Dell also plans to introduce the XPS 13 later in the year.
