‘Made in UP’ alcohol, exports abroad, expected to cross 100 crore liters

Made in UP Wine

Uttar Pradesh is rapidly making its identity on the leaker sector of the world. In the coming years, consumption of liquor made from here can be seen not only in India but also abroad. Meanwhile, according to a PTI report, the Uttar Pradesh Distillery Association says that if the speed of such development is there, then by 2026, the export of liquor from the state will cross 1000 million liters i.e. 100 million liters.

These figures show how much a big role is playing in the state’s economy of the leaker industry and later there is a possibility of good growth in it.

Record growth in the last five years

UP has shown shocking growth in the last five years in terms of production and export of liquor. In the year 2017-18, there were only 61 distillery in the state, which made about 170 billion liters of liquor. But by 2022-23, this figure rose to 85 distilled, which is producing a total of 348 billion liters. This is more than doubled.

Not only this, 18 new distillery has been started in just one year and 20 new distillery are still under construction. From this, it can be guessed how fast the liquor industry is spreading in the state.

155% increase in exports

Not only production, but also Uttar Pradesh is performing tremendously in the export of liquor. While only 292 million liters of liquor was sent abroad in the year 2017-18, in 2022-23 the figure reached 743 million liters, which is about 155% increase. Today, liquor made in Uttar Pradesh is being exported to 38 different countries. This is considered a major achievement for the state, because it is also coming to foreign currency and new employment opportunities are also being created.

The policies of the government are also being considered as an important contribution behind this rapid development of the liquor industry in Uttar Pradesh. Facilities like e-governance, single window clearance have given investors a chance to easily enter the industry. Apart from this, business has also been promoted due to reduction in export duty of extra neutral alcohol (ENA).

Made in UP is becoming a global brand

The Made in UP branding campaign in partnership with the association and APEDA has also strengthened the state’s identity in foreign markets. Now the demand for liquor with ‘Made in UP’ tag is increasing worldwide, due to which there is a possibility of export in the coming time. Experts believe that if everything goes according to the plan, then by 2026, more than 1000 million liters i.e. 100 crore liters of liquor will be exported from Uttar Pradesh.
