Lucknow. Uttar Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Brajesh Pathak, through the famous quote from Swami Vivekananda’s Chicago lecture – “India is a country where character, not tailor, makes a man a gentleman” called upon the youth of the state to recognize their real strength and talent.

Addressing the National Youth Day program organized at Jupiter Hall of Indira Gandhi Pratishthan, Lucknow, he described the life and thoughts of Swami Vivekananda as a source of inspiration for today’s youth.

Swami Vivekananda showed the real strength of India to the world

The Deputy Chief Minister said that by being born in India, Swami Vivekananda not only introduced the world to Indian culture, but also introduced the real power and self-confidence of India. He appealed to the youth to connect with the thoughts of Swami Vivekananda and make united efforts to take the country forward under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Indian flag hoisted even during the era of slavery

Brajesh Pathak said that the youth should try to understand in what difficult circumstances Swami Vivekananda moved forward. At that time the country was stuck in the chains of slavery, freedom was limited, but despite this, the son of Mother India was successful in hoisting the flag of Indian culture all over the world.

He said that he had neither received an invitation, nor a ticket, nor adequate means to live and eat at the Chicago conference. The only information was that a big seminar on world cultures was being held there, and with that confidence they reached there.

The Deputy Chief Minister said that when Swami Vivekananda reached the Chicago conference, many people laughed after seeing his attire. But when he got the opportunity to speak, within a few minutes he filled the entire gathering with applause.

While all the speakers were addressing as ‘Ladies and Gentlemen’, Swami Vivekananda gave the message of one family to the whole world by saying ‘Sisters and Brothers’. During this time, he had said that in the West, tailor makes a gentleman, whereas in India, character makes a person a gentleman.

Brajesh Pathak said that Swami Vivekananda clearly believed that youth is the biggest strength of the country. He told the youth that today the tendency to run only after marksheet and percentage has increased, but success in life is not decided only by marks. The land of India is fertile and such youth have been born here who have brought glory to the country by accepting global challenges.

Youth should become opportunity creators and not opportunity seekers.

The Deputy Chief Minister said that today India has made a strong identity in the whole world. Under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, the youth are getting a platform to move forward. He said that today’s youth are not just looking for opportunities but are becoming opportunity creators. The government’s job is to provide a platform, while the talent of the youth makes its own path.

Brajesh Pathak appealed to the youth to link their identity with the identity of Uttar Pradesh with discipline, skill and confidence. He said that only when the youth becomes strong, the state and the country will also become strong.
