Mumbai: Diljit Dosanjh’s film ‘Sutlej’ has been removed from ZEE5 in India. A day after this ban, on Monday, Diljit came live on Instagram and talked about it. While talking to his fans, Diljit expressed his views on the sudden ban on the film and the long journey behind its release. He showed expressions of both disappointment and approval at this new development. Let us tell you that this film has been removed from OTT on 5th July. Diljit’s big revelation after the ban
- In his live session, Diljit spoke openly about the events leading up to the ban. He said, “My love and respect to all of you. Exactly what I had anticipated happened. I thought that when the offices opened on Monday, the film would probably be banned. But I didn’t know that it would happen on Sunday evening itself.”
- He further explained why the team did not promote the film extensively. He said that the uncertainty regarding the release of the film had determined his strategy from the beginning.
- He said, “That’s why we could not promote the film. If we had promoted, the film would not have been released.”
How did the film reach the audience even after the ban?
- Despite the ban, Diljit expressed relief that the film reached the audience through OTT.
- The ‘Amar Singh Chamkila’ actor said, “But now I am satisfied that our work has reached people the way we wanted. People have already downloaded it.
- One thing I was very happy to see was that people are also showing films on projectors in Gurudwara Sahib. Seeing this made my heart happy.”
- He added, “Once something is on the Internet, I don’t think it can ever be completely deleted.”
Diljit said- We were fighting with four
- Diljit also spoke openly about the long and difficult production journey of ‘Sutlej’. He explained that it was a project that involved constant delays, challenges and emotional investment. The team was working on this film for about six to seven years.
- He said, “We have been fighting for four years. Who knows, if we get another chance to fight it might come back. But I am satisfied that the film is finally out.”
- He also talked about the obstacles faced during production and post-production, which included halting shooting.
- Diljit said, “We faced a lot of difficulties in making this film. People close to us also created a lot of problems. Our shooting used to be stopped for 15 days each.”
The film came after years of research
- Praising producer Honey Trehan, Diljit said, “I salute Honey bhai. He dedicated his life to this project. Honey ji has a very personal connection with this film.”
- According to reports, director Honey Trehan researched the subject for years before production began, while Diljit said he took a year to prepare for his role.
- Diljit became emotional while talking about the story of the film. He said, “When I saw the final edited version in 2023, I got goosebumps. I couldn’t control my emotions and cried a lot after watching it.”
What is the story of the film ‘Sutlej’?
The film is based on the life of human rights activist Jaswant Singh Khalra, who went missing in 1995. Diljit stressed the relevance of the story, saying, “From 1995 to 2026, it seems we are still standing at the same place. Humanity is dead, so I’m sad.”
At the end of his live video, Diljit expressed his deep faith in God and recited the Gurbani Shabad ‘Karan Karan Sabh Ek Hai’, which means ‘Only God is the doer of all things’.
