Bhopal: A priest husband, who made his wife a sub-inspector with all his earnings and hard work, has received a divorce notice in return. The wife has said in her complaint in the court that her husband’s traditional attire and lifestyle is a cause of embarrassment for her. A temple priest husband worked hard day and night to fulfill his wife’s wish of becoming a police officer at the time of marriage. He spent all his savings on his wife’s education and exam preparation.
After hard work, the wife got the job of sub-inspector. But as soon as she got the job, her husband’s attire and way of living like a priest started appearing inferior to her. The wife has said in her complaint that her husband’s wearing of dhoti-kurta and keeping the braid behind his head is a cause of embarrassment for her in the society. She demanded her husband to change his attire and leave his job as a priest. But the husband was not ready to change his identity and profession.
What does the court say
The matter reached Bhopal Family Court and despite counseling several times, the wife is adamant on her insistence on getting a divorce. At the same time, the husband has told the court that he is still ready for reconciliation. Family Court lawyer Parihar said that such cases are now increasing and efforts will be made to resolve them through counselling, otherwise the District Judge will take the final decision.
