However, many types of work are being done continuously by the government and administration to curb such crimes. In this series, the Central Board of Indirect Taxes-Customs (CBIC) has now issued an alert to the people against GST notices.
The Central Board of Indirect Taxes and Customs (CBIC) on Friday alerted companies against fake GST notices being sent to them. Along with this, tax payers have been asked to immediately inform about such fraud cases.
Beware of fake GST notice..
Central Board of Indirect Taxes-Customs-CBIC continues to alert. Cautioned against fake GST notices being sent to private companies and businesses. GST taxpayers have been asked to immediately inform about such fraud cases. Fake notices are being sent online or physically and fake GST officers are also calling.
What did CBIC say?
CBIC said that fraudsters are sending fake summons by copying official GST documents. To make them appear genuine, they are using Central GST people and fake DIN numbers.
The Board has advised the taxpayers to verify the ‘Document Identification Number’ i.e. DIN mentioned in every communication or letter received from the department by visiting the CBSE portal. The board said that if the notice is genuine, it will be confirmed and if it is not so, then inform it immediately.
CBIC has given this clarification while responding to the complaint of a user on internet media platform ‘X’. That user had complained about a call from an alleged GST officer.
