Pune (Maharashtra): Traffic Police has said that the accumulated water near Pune Expressway and the debris fallen on the road due to landslides have been completely removed. After this, the road has been reopened for vehicular movement.
Karan Shikalgar, sub-inspector of traffic police, said vehicles were being allowed to proceed from there. The traffic police is constantly trying to organize the movement of vehicles. Police also said that if there is any obstruction on the new route, the traffic will be diverted to the old route.
All routes from Pune to Mumbai were closed
- Pune Traffic Authority had said that due to continuous rains for the last 48 hours, landslides and waterlogging have occurred in many areas, due to which all routes from Pune to Mumbai were closed.
- A landslide also occurred at Tunnel No. 40 (BB EMD) on the Mumbai-Pune railway route. Railway officials are working to remove the debris on a war footing and efforts are on to restart the route.

Pune Traffic SP appealed to the people
- Pune Traffic SP Shivaji Pawar had appealed to the people to avoid going towards Mumbai via the old Mumbai-Pune Highway and Expressway.
- He had said, “The connecting link on the Pune-Mumbai Expressway is completely closed due to landslides. The old expressway route is closed due to waterlogging, and landslides have also occurred on the old highway. The entire route from Pune to Mumbai is currently closed.
Postpone your journey from Pune to Mumbai
The lane coming from Mumbai to Pune is operational without any problem, although the traffic is moving slowly. We appeal to everyone to postpone their travel from Pune to Mumbai. The administration will give complete information after the road is cleared. Leave Mumbai for Pune only if absolutely necessary; That lane is open.”

- Meanwhile, very heavy and persistent rain is expected over Mumbai and its suburbs, according to the forecast issued by the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) at 8 am today.
- Additionally, people should be prepared for occasional strong winds, which can reach speeds of 60-70 kilometers per hour. In view of the impact of the wind, a red alert has been issued for Mumbai.
- According to the forecast, the city received an average of 105.24 mm rainfall in the last 24 hours. At the same time, an average rainfall of 161.11 mm was recorded in the eastern suburbs and 159.40 mm in the western suburbs.

- At the same time, the PRO of Western Railway has given an update that 300 mm of rain has been recorded in the last 2 hours in Palghar area. Water from this area is filling Virar area from Vasai.
- The PRO said, “There is waterlogging due to water coming from Palghar. All the drains in the city and the district are overflowing.”
