Ujjain Weather Update: Due to torrential rains in Mumbai, the metropolis has turned into water. Meanwhile, now in Ujjain i.e. Baba Mahakal city of Madhya Pradesh, many temples have been submerged in water after the rise of Shipra river.
Ujjain (Madhya Pradesh): After heavy rains in Ujjain city and surrounding areas for the last three-four days, the water level of Shipra river continued to rise on Monday. Due to the rising water in the river, many temples built on the banks of Ram Ghat have been submerged. Officials said that the bridge connecting Ram Ghat and Dutt Akhara has been flooded with about 7 to 8 feet of water, due to which the movement in that area has completely stopped.
Many temples built at Ram Ghat were submerged in water.
Although the rain had stopped in Ujjain on Sunday, heavy to very heavy rain continued in the surrounding areas. Due to this the water level of the river increased. Many temples built at Ram Ghat have been submerged in water and officials have warned that if the water level rises further, more temples may submerge.
Meteorological Department’s Ujjain rain alert
- The police administration has appealed to the devotees, especially those coming from outside the city, not to go into deep water as the flow of the river is very fast.
- Officials are continuously monitoring the situation and further information is awaited.
- The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued an alert of heavy to very heavy rain with thunderstorms and strong winds in both eastern and western Madhya Pradesh.
Young man washed away in flood of bridge in Indore
- Earlier, a 26-year-old laborer was washed away while trying to cross a flooded culvert on a motorcycle after heavy rains in Indore district of Madhya Pradesh. Officials said on Thursday that the search operation is going on to find him.
- This incident happened on Wednesday evening at Ahirkhedi culvert of Bhanwarkuan police station area. Two laborers named Mahesh Chauhan and Manish Chauhan were returning home from work. Both were on different motorcycles. When they were crossing the culvert, the water in a drain suddenly increased due to strong flow. Manish swam out safely after being washed away, but Mahesh went missing.
