UP Police services have become digital due to the smart policing initiative of Yogi government. Through UPCop App and Citizen Portal, people are availing 27 services including FIR sitting at home. 50 lakh downloads and fast disposal have increased public confidence.
Lucknow. In the last nine and a quarter years, the Yogi government has taken many important steps to strengthen smart policing. Due to these efforts, the police system has not only become more modern, but it has also proved to be a strong medium of relief and trust for the common people. With the use of technology, police services have now become simpler, faster and transparent.
UPCop App and Citizen Portal become “Digital Police Station”
UPCOP app and citizen portal developed by Yogi government’s UP Police are today working like a digital police station for the people of the state. Through these platforms, people are not only filing FIRs sitting at home, but are also availing the benefits of 27 types of police services without going to the police station.
Facility of FIR and 27 police services sitting at home
Through the UPCop app, the people of the state are availing a total of 27 services like filing FIR online, downloading copy of FIR, filing report of lost article, character verification, tenant verification, domestic help verification and employee verification. This facility has reduced the compulsion of visiting police stations to a great extent.
More than 50 lakh downloads, more than 2.1 crore FIR downloads
Director General of Police Rajeev Krishna said that Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has linked technology to make policing people-centric, transparent and accountable. The result is that till now more than 50 lakh people have downloaded the UPcop app. At the same time, more than 2.1 crore FIRs have been downloaded through the app. Apart from this, more than 7.3 lakh people have filed reports of lost luggage online. These figures show the success of digital policing.
Big reduction in the time limit for disposal of services
DGP said that there has been a significant reduction in the time taken for disposal of various services through UPcop app. currently
- Character verification is taking about 6 days, whereas earlier it used to take 8 days.
- Tenant verification is now being completed in about 8 days, which earlier took 24–25 days.
- Employee verification is now taking about 5 days, whereas earlier it used to take 13 days.
Due to this, citizens are getting fast and timely services.
UPcop app is equipped with modern features
Many modern features have been added to the UPcop app. In this, applicants get instant information about the status of their application through real-time notifications. This app is available in both Hindi and English languages, so people of all sections can use it easily. For security, it also has facilities like location tracking, SOS button and viewing the nearest police station on the map.
Increased accountability through Public Grievance Review Portal
Yogi government’s Public Grievance Review Portal has also emerged as an effective medium for the common people. Through this, people are registering their complaints, which are being regularly reviewed and resolved in a timely manner. This has increased the accountability of the police and strengthened the confidence among the complainants that their problems are being listened to seriously.

UPCop App is the digital police station of Uttar Pradesh Police, which ensures prompt, transparent and timely disposal of citizens’ complaints and services.
