DGCA Action Against RK Singh: The difficulties of senior army officer who attacked the airline staff a month ago has increased. The officer will no longer be allowed to fly in any aircraft for 5 years.
New Delhi (27 August) Lieutenant Colonel RK Singh of the Indian Army, who attacked SpiceJet employees and created a ruckus, has suffered another setback. RK Singh, who was a victim of strict criticism, has now been banned by the Directorate General of Aviation (DGCA), a 5 -year air travel. RK Singh will no longer be able to travel on any citizen aircraft for 5 years. The action has been taken after the incident at Srinagar International Airport on 26 July 2025. The decision has been taken based on the investigation of the three -member internal committee constituted under the Civil Aviation Rules.
There was a dispute over cabin bag
Lieutenant Colonel RK Singh is posted at the High Altitude Warfare School in Gulmarg, Jammu and Kashmir. Lieutenant Colonel RK Singh was to travel in SpiceJet’s flight SG 8963 going from Srinagar to Delhi. He had a cabin bag weighing 16 kg, while according to the rules, the weight of the cabin bag should be only 7 kg. For this, he was asked to pay Rs 6,000, which he refused. The debate started on this, which later turned into a scuffle. The entire dispute took place at the boarding gate itself.
What is the whole matter?
Lieutenant Colonel RK Singh was stopped from climbing on the aircraft for violating the rules. Angered by this, RK Singh broke the protocol of the boarding gate. CISF personnel posted under the airport security took RK Singh to the counter. During this, Singh attacked four SpiceJet employees. Employees suffered serious injuries in this incident. One employee suffered a spinal cord injury, the other’s jaw hurt and the third employee fainted. The entire incident was captured in the CCTV and an FIR was lodged against Singh. Singh had also lodged a separate FIR accusing the airline employees of attacking.
Ban on air travel for 5 years
After this incident, DGCA has imposed a 5 -year ban on Lieutenant Colonel RK Singh in domestic and international flights of all Indian airlines, that is, he will not be able to travel in any aircraft by July 2030.
