On the inauguration of Farmer Welfare Year-2026, a special exhibition of Animal Husbandry and Dairy Department was organized at Jamboree Ground, Bhopal. Along with Gir, Sahiwal, Tharparkar, the famous Punganur cow of Andhra Pradesh became the center of attraction.
With the intention of giving a new direction to agriculture and animal husbandry, the Madhya Pradesh government has started celebrating the year 2026 as “Farmers Welfare Year”. Under this initiative, many unique glimpses related to animal husbandry and dairy sector were seen in the program organized at Jamboree Ground in Bhopal, where the famous Punganur cow of Andhra Pradesh attracted everyone’s attention.
On the occasion of the inauguration of “Krishak Kalyan Varsh-2026” organized on Sunday, a special exhibition was organized by the Animal Husbandry and Dairy Department. This event was organized on the instructions of Departmental Minister of State Shri Lakhan Patel, in which special emphasis was laid on connecting farmers and livestock farmers with modern technologies and schemes.
Punganur cow is the main attraction of the exhibition
Gir, Sahiwal, Tharparkar breeds as well as the famous Punganur cow of Andhra Pradesh were displayed in the exhibition. Punganur cow, known for its small stature and high milk production capacity, remained a topic of discussion among farmers and cattle rearers.
During the program, departmental officials gave important information related to animal nutrition, animal health and breed improvement to the present farmers and livestock farmers. Officials said that milk production can be increased significantly by adopting scientific methods.

Stalls set up for information about government schemes
More than five stalls were set up by the Animal Husbandry and Dairy Department in the Jamboree grounds. Through these stalls, information about various public welfare schemes of the Government of India and the State Government was made available to the farmers and livestock farmers.
An attractive exhibition of products made from cow dung like Ram Darbar, Mahakal statue, Panchgavya products, puja materials and cosmetics was also organized at the venue. Along with this, live demonstration of various species of Kadaknath cock and goat was given, giving the message of promoting animal husbandry.
Sanchi Milk Union’s products also became an attraction
Milk and milk products produced by Sanchi Milk Union were also displayed in the exhibition, which witnessed a huge crowd of people to see and buy.
Special focus remained on self-reliant cow shelters
A special demonstration of the Self-reliant Gaushala Policy-2025 and the Self-reliant Gaushala model of the Animal Husbandry and Dairy Department was done. Its objective was to motivate cattle herders to make their cow sheds financially strong.
