Expected to be inaugurated before Holi
Officials say that at present the Ganga Expressway has not been opened to the general public for trial. Excavation work is going on outside the ramp for climbing and descending, although the vehicles of executing agencies are being run on it from time to time. It is believed that after 100 percent completion of the construction work, it will be opened for general traffic around January 26, while its formal inauguration is likely to be done by the Prime Minister around February 15.
This time the Ganga Expressway will be inaugurated not in the usual way, but in a special way. According to UPEDA officials, a 5 kilometer long runway has been prepared on the expressway in Badaun district. On the occasion of the inauguration, more than five fighter aircraft of the Indian Air Force will land here and also take off from here. These will also include Rafale fighter aircraft. Preparations have been started for this historic event.
