Who Was Sapna Didi?
Sapna Didi, whose real name was Ashraf Khan, was a well-known figure in Mumbai’s underworld. Her husband was reportedly killed due to his links with Dawood Ibrahim, and she believed the gangster had ordered the encounter. Seeking revenge for her husband’s death, Ashraf (later known as Sapna) set out on a mission that led her to Ustara, Dawood’s rival. Reportedly, he trained her in combat skills and weapon handling.
Together, Sapna and Ustara launched attacks against Dawood and D-Company, targeting his illegal businesses and disrupting criminal operations. This made her one of the most feared female figures in the underworld. However, her attempts to kill Dawood failed multiple times.
It is said that Ustara and Sapna once planned to assassinate the gangster during a cricket match in Sharjah, but the plan did not succeed.
In 1994, Sapna Didi was attacked and stabbed 22 times by Dawood’s men. Though she died tragically, she remained a powerful symbol of fearlessness and resistance in the underworld.
