Every year lakhs of youth of the country dream of getting a job in a government bank and among them, the recruitment of Probationary Officer (PO) in State Bank of India (SBI) is most preferred.
If you also want to make your career in the banking sector, then this is an important update for you. SBI has started the online application process for PO Recruitment 2026 and now the last date of application is also very close.
Interested candidates can apply through the official career portal till 8 July 2026. There is a possibility of more traffic on the website in the last days, hence candidates are being advised not to wait for the last moment and complete the application in time.
Recruitment for 1500 posts
Through this recruitment drive, SBI will appoint a total of 1,500 posts of Probationary Officer. Of these, 1,446 are regular posts, while 54 are reserved for backlog category. The bank has also clarified that the number of these posts can be changed further as per the need.
Who can apply?
Before applying, candidates must check their educational qualification and age limit. If a candidate is studying in the final year, he/she has also been given the opportunity to apply. All the important information related to eligibility is given below.
- It is necessary to have a bachelor’s degree in any subject from a recognized university.
- Students in the final year or final semester of graduation can also apply.
- If selected for interview, you will have to provide proof of passing graduation by 30 September 2026.
- The age of the candidate should be between 21 to 30 years as on 1st April 2026.
- Reserved category candidates will get relaxation in maximum age limit as per government rules.
How much application fee will have to be paid?
SBI has also fixed the application fee for different categories. Before submitting the application, candidates must check the fee information according to their category.
- General, OBC and EWS category: Rs 750
- SC, ST and PwBD Category: No application fee
How will the selection process be?
Candidates will not be selected in SBI PO Recruitment through only one examination. The entire selection process will be completed in three phases. Along with this, the possible timing of each phase has also been informed by the bank.
- Phase 1: Online Preliminary Examination (Expected August 2026)
- Phase II: Online Main Examination (Expected September 2026)
- Third Stage: Psychometric Test, Group Exercise and Personal Interview (Expected October or November 2026)
Salary and facilities
SBI PO job is known for good salary and career growth. Selected candidates will be appointed in Junior Management Grade Scale-I. Along with this, many other facilities are also provided by the bank.
- Starting Basic Salary: Rs 48,480
- Estimated annual CTC in Mumbai: around Rs 21.97 lakh
- Apart from this, allowances and other facilities will also be available as per the rules of the bank.
