New Delhi: Iran’s Sovereign Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, issued a stern warning to US President Donald Trump as the nationwide protest turned into a massive course and entered into its second week, expanding across dozens of cities and towns.
Khamenei spoke during a public interaction and accused Washington of the unrest in the state and also stated that the rules that govern with arrogance are destined to collapse, pointing towards Trump.
Iran’s leader invoked historical figures as an example and referred to the tyrants directly to Trump as the supreme power brought down at the height of their power.
“The US president who judges arrogantly about the whole world should know that tyrants and arrogant rulers of the world, such as Pharaoh, Nimrod, Mohammad Reza [Pahlavi] and other such rulers saw their downfall when they were at the peak of their hubris,” Khamenei stated. “He too, will fall.”
The note came after the protest turned into a large one as Iran was witnessing one of its worst economic crises, spreading into new regions. The protestors are chanting against the political leadership, clashing against security forces, and in several places, facing forceful responses by authorities.
There are also around 10,000 Indian nationals and people of Indian origin living in Iran, and in that scenario, India’s Ministry of External Affairs is closely monitoring the situation right now.
Intense protest
According to the Institute for the Study of War, the protest escalated over the past three days, with authorities intensifying unrest, including deploying Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps ground forces in at least one area.
The US and European sanctions linked to the nuclear program of Iran have pushed the economy, but the current unrest in the country noted that the rial has lost half of its value against the dollar in 2025.
The inflation exceeded 42 per cent in December, and with protest activity increasing since January 7, the urgency also increased among the people.
