In his first match, Vaibhav Suryavanshi was stumped after scoring 14 runs in 10 balls. Vaibhav was stumped out on the ball of Will Jacques. Before getting out, Vaibhav had hit two sixes in his innings of 14 runs.
The 15-year-old batsman had scored runs in his first match with a strike rate of 140. Even though Vaibhav could not score big, his 10-ball batting was enough to impress the fans. However, former Indian captain Sunil Gavaskar seems disappointed with the dismissal of 15-year-old Vaibhav. He believes that the way Vaibhav got out was the result of his wrong thinking.
Great former Indian player Sunil Gavaskar said that Vaibhav Suryavanshi’s playing of such cut shots was completely different from his usual style. Speaking on Vaibhav Suryavanshi’s dismissal on Sony Sports, Sunil Gavaskar said, “It is not his shot, his shot is a cover drive,”
Earlier, Gavaskar had called Suryavanshi ‘India’s child’. He said, “I will not be surprised if he starts playing well from the very first ball, whoever is watching him in India will be overjoyed, they will all be very happy because he is now the child of India, and everyone wants their child to do well.” Talking about the match, England chased the target of 191 runs and achieved the target for six wickets with one over remaining.
England captain Harry Brook batted aggressively and scored 39 runs in 15 balls. He scored 27 runs in one over of Arshdeep with the help of three sixes and two fours and reduced the pressure to a great extent. Akshar Patel (1 wicket for 20 runs) brought relief to India by getting Harry Brook caught by wicketkeeper Ishan Kishan, but by then England was in a strong position.
After this, Bethel and Tom Banton did not allow the Indian spin attack to be effective by making a partnership of 67 runs for the fourth wicket. Banton scored 39 runs in 32 balls. Bethal played an unbeaten inning of 76 runs in the match.
Among the Indian spinners, only Akshar could make an impact. In contrast, Bishnoi conceded 60 runs in four overs, while Varun Chakraborty took one wicket for 37 runs in four overs. England’s batsmen took full advantage of the relatively fast bowling of both the spinners.
