MEA said that India takes decisions to meet its energy needs keeping in mind the options and prices available in the global market. Ensuring energy security of 1.4 billion people is the priority of the government and for this it is essential to get affordable energy from various sources. The ministry clarified that India’s position on this issue has been clear for a long time and we have given information about it from time to time.
The US Commerce Secretary recently discussed relations with India in a podcast. In response to a question asked on the trade deal, he said that when the talks were going on the deal. Then US President Donald Trump was waiting for PM Modi’s phone call. When PM Modi did not call him. Then America made a deal with other countries and increased the tariff rates on India. The Ministry of External Affairs has also responded to his statement. On behalf of the government, it was said that the words of the US Commerce Secretary are baseless.

According to MEA, a total of eight phone conversations took place between PM Modi and President Trump during the year 2025, in which various aspects of the India-US comprehensive strategic partnership were discussed.
