Tilak Varma ready for international action, not to miss NZ T20Is and T20 World Cup – Report

New Delhi: Tilak Varma is ready for international action and will not miss the T20I series against New Zealand this month and the T20 World Cup in February, mentions a report in Cricbuzz. The report thus denied speculations doing the rounds on social media that the T20 specialist will be missing both the events for the Indian cricket team.

DB Ravi Teja, the coach of the Hyderabad cricket team, said that the surgery he underwent was for a minor groin issue and everything seems to be fine with the swashbuckling batter. Tilak had to undergo a surgery for the testicular torsion in Rajkot on Wednesday (January 7) after he suffered an injury during Hyderabad’s match versus Bengal.

‘It was a very minor surgery he underwent in Rajkot on Wednesday. There is nothing serious or alarming about it. He will be ready in three to four days,’ the 38-year-old Andhra-born Hyderabad coach told Cricbuzz on Thursday. Tilak went under the knife for testicular torsion in Rajkot on Wednesday (January 7) after he suffered an injury during Hyderabad’s match versus Bengal.

Tilak’s next international assignment is the T20 home series against New Zealand, starting on January 21 in Nagpur, exactly two weeks from Thursday. The 23-year-old left-handed batter was the hero of India’s campaign at the Asia Cup in Dubai, which the Men in Blue won. According to the coach, Tilak is currently with the team and will travel back with the side to Hyderabad.

According to Ravi Teja, Tilak would have been ready to play on January 8 (Thursday) against Jammu & Kashmir, a match which Hyderabad lost but thy di not want to take any chances since they had no chance of qualifying for the knockouts.
