BNP Leader Shot Dead In Dhaka: BNP leader Azizur Rahman Musabbir was shot dead in Bangladesh’s capital Dhaka on Tuesday night. The incident comes at a time when political violence is on the rise ahead of national elections on February 12. An atmosphere of fear has spread in the caravan market and surrounding busy areas of the capital. Unidentified assailants opened fire at Musabbir from close range near Super Star Hotel. Musabbir, who was previously the general secretary of the Dhaka Metropolitan North Swayamsevak Dal, was shot at in the Caravan Bazaar area at 8.30 pm. The attackers fled from the spot. Injured Musabbir was first taken to BRB Hospital, then shifted to a private hospital in Panthapath area, where he died. Officials said he was shot in the stomach.
