New Delhi: Union minister G Kishan Reddy slammed the Congress government in Telangana accusing it of trying to privatise the lands of the universities.
“The Congress government in Telangana, which is destroying the education system in the state without budget allocations, is now working in ‘mission mode’ to seize university lands,” he said.
He alleged that recently, the Revanth Reddy government tried to privatise the lands of Hyderabad Central University and to clear the land without accounting for the forest wealth and biodiversity.
“When the Supreme Court intervened and put a damper on it, it backed off. Now, it has set its sights on the lands of the prestigious Maulana Azad National Urdu University in Hyderabad’s Gachibowli. It has prepared the ground to reclaim 50 acres within the university and hand them back over to private entities,” Reddy said.
He further said that if universities have land, it serves the purpose of meeting their future needs and providing students with a pleasant environment.
“That’s all—there’s no need to use them to fill the government’s coffers. The Revanth Reddy government is showing interest only in expanding its land bank and using university lands for financial plunder, while plunging the state’s education system and the progress of universities into darkness,” he said in the post.
