Ayodhya (Uttar Pradesh): The anger of the saints erupted on Sunday over the case of alleged misappropriation of donations for Ram temple in Ayodhya. He demanded strict action against the culprits in this case and said that playing with faith will not be tolerated at any cost.

What did Mahamandaleshwar say…
- Mahamandaleshwar Vishnu Das Maharaj said, “New revelations are being made every day regarding the Ram temple.” He alleged that big names associated with the temple like Champat Rai, Anil Mishra and Gopal Rao “may also go to jail.”
- Vishnu Das told ANI, “Such people should be removed. As per the tradition of saints, worship in the Ram temple should be conducted properly and Shankaracharya Swami Abhimuktananda should be included in it.”
- Vishnu Das also claimed that the devotees are disappointed after the consecration. He said, “Today Ram devotees are sad. Lakhs of people who were once excited about the sanctity of life, are now heartbroken. Digvijay Singh and other leaders of Congress-Samajwadi Party are doing dirty politics on this…”

- Mahant Sitaram Das Maharaj also said similar things. He said that this is a question of faith of crores of people and the eyes of the entire country and the world are fixed on Ayodhya.
- He told ANI, “This is a matter of faith of crores of people, the eyes of the country and the world are on Ayodhya. The truth will come out and whoever is responsible will be punished. This action will set an example which will be remembered for generations. If you betray God, Sanatan or the devotees, then there will be punishment and the world will see it.”
- These statements of the saints have come at a time when investigation is going on into the alleged misappropriation of temple donations.
- The Special Investigation Team (SIT) probing the case had reached the temple premises on July 3 for further investigation.
8 accused arrested in Ram Mandir donation case
- On July 1, the state government had given additional time of 15 days to the SIT to complete its investigation. This time was extended so that the SIT could expand the scope of investigation and investigate every aspect of the case in depth.
- The SIT had submitted its initial report on June 23, after which Mahant Sitaram Das Maharaj and the accused were arrested on June 25.
- Subsequently, within hours of the arrest of all eight people named in the FIR, Champat Rai and former trustee Anil Mishra had resigned, taking moral responsibility for the alleged misappropriation of donations at the Ayodhya Ram temple.
