Battle with death in the well: When the murderer cut the last rope of life
Dinesh was bleeding after the robbery. He was afraid that the woman might go to the police. To hide his dreadful crime, he pushed Lakshmi into a deep well in the field. As soon as she fell into the well, Lakshmi did not lose courage and while swimming in the water, she caught hold of a rope hanging there. When the murderer Dinesh standing above saw that the woman was still alive and was trying to come up with the help of a rope, he crossed all limits of cruelty. Even though the murderer had run away after cutting the rope, Lakshmi’s will to live had not ended yet. Since he knew how to swim, he managed himself in the water. Then in the dark well he saw a pipe of the farm motor and another thin rope tied to it. Lakshmi gathered all her strength and held the pipe. Every moment was heavy. The silence of the night, the cold water of the well and the fear of poisonous creatures – amidst this dreadful scene, the woman kept fighting death for 21 hours. The next day i.e. Thursday morning, when a local farmer passed by, he heard a very weak call for help coming from inside the well. The farmer immediately informed the villagers and the police. The villagers who reached the spot conducted a rescue operation with the help of a cot and ropes and brought Lakshmi out safely.
