In a bizarre incident, a man died after his wife weighing a 100 kg fell on him. The incident was reported from Northwest Portugal.
According to reports, the woman, a 60-year-old with a body weight of 100 kg, tripped and fell on her husband.
Her husband was sleeping on the floor. As she fell on him, he could not get up because of her weight. Due to the same reasons, the wife also could not get up on her own.
Helpless, the couple screamed for help. The neighbours on hearing the cries of help rushed to the spot. They managed to lift the lady but in the meanwhile, the man had become unconscious. The neighbours called emergency services like firefighters and paramedics for help.
The health personnel attending the man said that he had suffered a cardiac arrest and died.
Several media reports said that the reason behind the man suffering the heart attack was his heavily built wife. She was fat while her husband was slim built. The incident reportedly occurred on August 11.
Police investigated and inferred it as a ‘rare accident’ with no criminal intention. The cause of the death was determined as “Accidental asphyxia.”
