New Rs 12 Lakh Japanese SUV Coming To India

A few months ago, the legendary Renault Duster nameplate made a massive comeback in a new-age avatar with loads of features, tech and best-in-class performance, along with being the most affordable SUV in its segment. And now, the Duster’s sister car, the Tekton, is just days away from its official launch. So, will the Nissan Tekton become the most affordable SUV in its segment? Let’s take a look at the expected pricing of the upcoming Tekton! Nissan Tekton Expected Pricing

Nissan hasn’t had a massive portfolio in India and currently has two cars in its lineup – the Gravite and Magnite. However, that is about to change as the Japanese brand will be launching its new mid-size SUV, the Tekton, on July 9. We already know that it will be sharing a majority of its components with the Renault Duster, meaning that the Tekton will be a feature-rich SUV. But how will Nissan make it a more compelling option for buyers? Pricing!

When you take a look at Nissan’s lineup and compare it to its Renault alternatives, the Nissan cars are cheaper. For instance, the Nissan Gravite has a starting price of just Rs 6.72 lakh (on-road, Mumbai), whereas the Renault Triber has a starting price of Rs 6.80 lakh (on-road, Mumbai). Similarly, the Nissan Magnite starts from just Rs 6.76 lakh (on-road, Mumbai), while the Renault Kiger has a starting price of Rs 6.81 lakh (on-road, Mumbai). So, even though it isn’t the biggest difference in pricing, Nissan can still claim to be offering the cheapest 7-seater in India, giving it a slight upper hand.

So, we believe that even with the Tekton, Nissan will try to be aggressive and price the SUV below the Renault Duster, which is currently the most affordable SUV in its segment with a price tag ranging from Rs 12.48 lakh to Rs 22.09 lakh (on-road, Mumbai). We expect the Tekton to be priced between Rs 12.38 lakh and Rs 22 lakh (on-road, Mumbai). That said, here’s everything else that we expect to see in the new Nissan Tekton!

What To Expect?

As the Nissan Tekton will be sharing most of its components with the Duster, we expect it to get a similar feature list. Expected features include a 10.1-inch touchscreen, powered and ventilated front seats, a 10.25-inch instrument cluster, a panoramic sunroof, level 2 ADAS, a 360-degree camera and the list goes on. Moreover, we expect to see the same engine options in the Tekton as the Duster – a 1.0-litre turbo petrol engine (99bhp & 160Nm) and a 1.3-litre turbo petrol engine (160bhp & 280Nm). And, by the end of 2026 or early next year, the Tekton could also get a 1.8-litre petrol hybrid powertrain, for maximum fuel efficiency and a much longer range. All of these features and tech, along with best-in-class performance, would be a great value-for-money proposition if Nissan goes aggressive with the price tag. So, would you consider buying Tekton?
