Meteorological Department warns of heavy to very heavy rain
The Meteorological Department has warned of heavy to very heavy rainfall in many parts of Jammu region including Kathua, Samba, Doda, Jammu, Ramban and Kishtwar districts. In view of bad weather, all government and private schools in Jammu division remained closed on Tuesday. Traffic has been stopped on the Jammu-Srinagar National Highway as a precaution due to landslides and stone fall. A major road was washed away due to the rise of a local drain in Doda.

155.6 mm of rain in Kathua in 24 hours
According to the India Meteorological Department, Kathua district has received the highest 155.6 mm of rainfall in the last 24 hours. On Monday, Doda’s Bhadarwah received 99.8 mm of rain. Jammu received 81.5 mm and Katra 68.8 mm rainfall. Officials have feared cloudburst, sudden floods and landslides in high altitude areas till at least 27 August. Rescue and relief teams have been kept on alert in sensitive areas.
