New Delhi: Nissan has introduced their X Trail Nismo SUV in a sports look in the Japanese market. It comes up with several upgrades, including the car exterior and interior, featuring new suspension and wider wheels. Powering the model is the familiar 1.5-litre petrol-hybrid unit, paired with Nissan’s all-wheel-drive e-Power system.
X Trail Nismo mechanical upgrade
The main upgrade in X Trail Nismo is on the front chassis, equipped with a KYB-made new wing valve damper. According to suspension firm KYB, the damper ensures more effective bump absorption at low speeds. The new suspension provides an improved trade-off between body control and ride comfort, Nissan said.
The SUV is also equipped with larger alloy wheels of 20 inches wrapped in Michelin Pilot Sports EV tyres, which are also 20 mm wider. The car also features new electric power steering as it comes with an upgraded chassis setup. Beneath the bonnet, the X Trail Nismo’s powertrain remains unchanged, featuring the same 1.5-litre, 3-cylinder petrol engine along with two electric motors, equipped on each axle with All Wheel Drive E power. The engine doesn’t supply direct power to the wheels, but it works as the power generator for the motor by developing 204hp and 330Nm.
X Trail Nismo exterior and interior
The X-Trail Nismo stands apart from the standard model with a sportier body kit that includes redesigned front and rear bumpers along with a revised grille. The front bumper incorporates a splitter with red highlights, while the rear adds a diffuser carrying Nismo branding. According to Nissan, these changes reduce aerodynamic lift by 29 per cent compared to the regular X-Trail. The cabin can also be specified with Recaro bucket seats featuring extra bolstering.
