The first three days traditions and their makeup

First day: Pran-prestige and traditional makeup

The first day is the most important day of Ganesh Chaturthi. On this day, devotees bring the idol of Lord Ganesha home in auspicious time and are given life. This is the method by which the deity is called in the idol.

Clothing: On this day, Ganesha is worn yellow or red clothes. Yellow color is a symbol of knowledge, happiness and auspiciousness, while red color reflects power, Mars and energy.

Makeup: Turmeric, kumkum and sandalwood are applied on the statue. After this, they are offered a garland of flowers, especially jaggery flowers (which are very dear to Ganesha), and Durva grass. Also, modak and laddus are offered.

Second day: symbol of prosperity and good fortune

The second day’s makeup is dedicated to prosperity and good fortune.

Clothing: On this day, green or golden colored clothes are often selected. Green color is a symbol of nature, development and prosperity, while the golden color reflects wealth and good luck. Zari-work or embroidered clothes are also worn in many places.

Makeup: Ganesha is worn to silver or gold ornaments, such as crowns, necklaces and armlets. On this day, especially fruits and dry fruits are offered.

Third day: a sense of simplicity and devotion

The third day is dedicated to simplicity and intense devotion.

Clothing: On this day, white or orange colored clothes are often worn. White color is a symbol of peace, purity and simplicity, while orange color reflects spirituality and renunciation. This color inspires devotees to live a sattvic life.

Makeup: More simplicity is kept in makeup, but it does not mean that it is less beautiful. Flower garlands, durva and sandalwood are specially used. Bhoga includes things made of sesame laddus and jaggery.
