The Supreme Court has formed a special investigation team ‘SIT’ to investigate the Wildlife Rescue Center Vantara in Jamnagar, Gujarat. This decision was taken after two PILs, in which Vantara was made several serious allegations. The responsibility of investigation is the former Supreme Court Judge Justice J.K. The team formed under the leadership of Chelameswar has been given. Vantara’s answer has now come on the formation of special team.
The matter came to light when a elephant named Mahadevi was brought to Vantara in July from a temple in Kolhapur. After this, lawyers CR Jaya Sukin and Dev Sharma filed PILs. It was alleged that Vantara keeps animals incorrectly, violates laws and indulged in financial irregularities.
What did Vantara say?
Following the order of investigating the SIT, Vantara issued a statement, in which he welcomed the Supreme Court’s decision and reacted to the allegations leveled against him.
Vantara said, “We are very respectful to the order of the Supreme Court. Allow to be allowed to be given in the best interest of animals provided. ”
What issues do SITs have to investigate?
The Supreme Court has ordered the SIT to report by 12 September. The main centers of investigation, the process of bringing animals from India and abroad, compliance of wildlife protection act and zoo rules, compliance of laws and import-export laws, system of animal medical and care, deaths and causes of animals, complaints and environment related complaints, transparency of private collections and reproductive programs, allegations of water and carbon credit, allegations of wildlife and carbon credit, allegations of wildlife and business and business There will be issues of financial transparency.
What did the court say?
The Supreme Court clarified that the SIT would only investigate the facts, not to reach any conclusion. The court said that there is no concrete evidence in support of the allegations made in the petitions, but the allegations are serious, so independent investigation is necessary. The court also said that this investigation is not to blame any institution, but to bring out the truth. The SIT has been asked to go to Vantara to investigate and prepare a report of all the related aspects.
