Planting Tulsi in Sawan: The month of Saavan is considered very sacred in Sanatan Dharma scriptures. This month has been dedicated to the God of Gods, Mahadev. According to the Hindi calendar, the month of Sawan is considered to be the fifth month. In this month Lord Shiva looks after the responsibility of the world. During this period, Shiva worship and Jalabhishek are considered especially fruitful. According to Drik Panchang, this year the month of Saavan is starting from 30th July, which will end on 28th August on the day of Saavan Purnima.
The month of Sawan is the month of greenery. In this month, nature is covering itself with a blanket of greenery, hence planting a Tulsi plant in the house during these days is considered very auspicious. It is said in Vastu Shastra that planting a Tulsi plant in the house in the auspicious month of Sawan removes all the negative energy. It also brings happiness and prosperity in the house.
Rules for planting basil plant at home
Correct direction of planting basil: Always plant a basil plant in the north or east direction of the house. Planting Tulsi plant in both these directions is considered very auspicious.
Do not hang the plant: Do not hang the Tulsi plant even by mistake. It is believed that doing this has a bad effect on the family members and the work done gets spoiled.
Uses of square shaped pot: Plant the basil plant in a square shaped pot. Planting Tulsi in such a pot gives auspicious results.
Proper drainage system: Due to moisture in monsoon, the soil becomes waterlogged, which increases the risk of roots rotting. Therefore, make proper arrangements for drainage in the basil pot.
Worship of Tulsi: Worshiping the Tulsi plant in the month of Sawan is considered more virtuous. In this month, worshiping Tulsi brings wealth to the house, which maintains happiness and prosperity, but keep in mind that do not even by mistake use Tulsi Dal in the worship of Lord Shiva.
