Bhopal. Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav met a four-member German delegation at the Ministry on July 3. During this, detailed discussions were held on increasing cooperation between the two sides in many important areas including the energy sector. Executive Board Member and CEO of Germany’s KfW Development Bank Christiane Laibeck, Country Director Wolfen Muth, German Embassy representative Gottfried von and other officials were present in the meeting. At the same time, Managing Director of Madhya Pradesh Industrial Development Corporation Limited Chandramouli Shukla, Vishesh Garhpale and Central Government officials also attended the meeting.

Emphasis on furthering the strong India-Germany partnership

Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav said that India and Germany have had strong and trusting relations for years. Describing the relations between the two countries as an example of brotherhood, he said that Madhya Pradesh can play an important role in taking this partnership to new heights. He said that the state government is in constant touch with German industrialists and investors so that more investment and modern technology can be promoted in the state.

Chief Minister appreciated the cooperation of KfW Bank in the energy sector

Appreciating the cooperation being provided by KfW Development Bank in the energy sector, the Chief Minister expressed confidence that the partnership between the two sides will become stronger in the coming times. He said that with the cooperation of Germany, Madhya Pradesh will progress rapidly as an energy efficient, green and prosperous state.

Financial support available for smart meter and feeder separation

Representatives of KfW Development Bank told the Chief Minister that under the Energy Reform Program, financial assistance of about Rs 1,120 crore is being provided for the installation of smart meters and feeder separation works in the power distribution companies of the state. The objective of this scheme is to make the electricity distribution system more modern, transparent and effective.

Expressed interest in providing 200 million Euro support in Energy Reform Phase-2.

The delegation also informed that taking the successful partnership forward, interest has been shown in financial cooperation of about 200 million Euros under Energy Reform Phase-2 to strengthen the power distribution infrastructure in the state and develop the necessary infrastructure to ensure power supply to agricultural feeders when solar energy is available. This is expected to give new momentum to the energy sector of Madhya Pradesh.
