Under the new scheme VB Ji Ram Ji, which replaced the Employment Guarantee Scheme MNREGA, it has been made mandatory to pay laborers within a week.
Addressing a special gram sabha in Loni Budruk of Ahmednagar district of Maharashtra, Union Rural Development and Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan said that the newly developed Bharat-G Gram G Act 2025 has many benefits. One of them is that every laborer working under this will have to pay wages within 1 week and if this is not done within 15 days, then the laborers will be given additional wages in the form of interest at the rate of 0.05%.
If money is not received within a week, you will get interest
Explaining the benefits of this scheme, Chauhan said that the new law gives a legal guarantee of 125 days of employment, in which it is necessary to pay wages within a week. If there is a delay of more than 15 days, workers will get 0.05 percent additional interest. He said that this Act strengthens MGNREGA by making it more effective, transparent and accountable.
33 percent reservation for women
Chauhan further said that now decisions on works will be taken by the Gram Sabha as per the local needs. This scheme will include water saving, infrastructure development, livelihood related activities and disaster relief. He said that at least 33 percent of the work is reserved for women, while states have been given the right to employ laborers in agricultural work for 60 days during the peak season. To ensure timely payment and easy implementation, administrative expenses have been increased from 6 percent to 9 percent.
