New order of Uttarakhand government
The Uttarakhand government has taken an important decision, giving great relief to vehicle owners. Now if a person scraps his old vehicle and buys a new vehicle of the same category, he will get a huge rebate in motor vehicle tax. This discount can range from 15 percent to 50 percent. This step of the government is being considered in the direction of environmental protection and removing old polluting vehicles from the road.
Order implemented, vehicle owners benefit immediately
After the decision of the state cabinet, notification of this new system has been issued and this rule has come into effect with immediate effect. Work on this plan was going on for a long time, which has now been put on the ground. This will not only provide relief to the common people, but the state is also expected to benefit economically.
Why was this decision taken
The government wants that old and more polluting vehicles should be gradually phased out and new, environment-friendly vehicles should come in their place. This will improve air quality and reduce fuel consumption. Besides, this decision also opens the way for the state to get special incentive amount from the Central Government.
What will be the process to get tax exemption?
Any vehicle owner who wants to take advantage of this scheme will have to get his old vehicle destroyed at a recognized scrap center. After scrapping the vehicle owner will get a certificate. On the basis of this certificate, when he buys a new vehicle of the same category, he will be given tax exemption. This benefit will not be available without scraping certificate.
For how many years will the discount be valid?
This tax exemption will be valid for different periods of time for private vehicles and commercial vehicles. For transport related vehicles, this facility will be available for a fixed period, whereas in case of private vehicles, this period has been kept longer. Its objective is that more and more people should take advantage of this scheme.
