A computer science engineering student from the Indian Institute of Technology, Hyderabad (IIT Hyderabad) has got a handsome package of Rs 2.5 crore during the placement this year. This offer has been given by Optiver, a well-known global trading company of Netherlands.
According to IIT Hyderabad, this is the biggest salary package received by a student since the establishment of the institute in 2008. Earlier in the year 2017, the highest package here was Rs 1.1 crore. In this way, this new offer has broken all the old records. This achievement is also being discussed a lot on social media and people are appreciating the hard work of the student.
Got big recognition for talent
The name of the student who received this package of Rs 2.5 crore is Edward Nathan Varghese. Edward did not get this success suddenly, but the reason behind it is his hard work and passion for coding, he did a two-month summer internship at Optiver Company. During this time, impressed by his work and skills, the company gave him a pre-placement offer (PPO).
Edward will start his career as a software engineer in the Netherlands from July. He is originally from Hyderabad and did his schooling from Bangalore. He has achieved this position at the age of just 21.
1100th rank in JEE Main and 558th rank in JEE Advanced
Edward had secured 1100th rank in JEE Main and 558th rank in JEE Advanced. Apart from this, he also scored 99.96 percentile in CAT exam. He credits his success to the strong syllabus of IIT and his passion for coding. His parents are also engineers, which provided him a good study environment.
