Varanasi. The visionary leadership of Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has established Varanasi not only as a spiritual city but also as a global tourism hub. After the construction of Kashi Vishwanath Corridor, extensive beautification of Ganga ghats, ancient temples, roads and intersections was done. Along with this, modern tourism facilities also developed rapidly.
The result of this is that in the year 2025, a record more than 7 crore 26 lakh devotees and tourists arrived to visit Kashi Vishwanath. In this, the number of devotees coming on the occasion of reverse flow of Mahakumbh, Mahashivratri and New Year was highest.
More than 7.26 crore tourists to reach Kashi in the year 2025
After the construction of Kashi Vishwanath Corridor and renovation of Ganga Ghats and temples, a historic increase in the number of tourists has been recorded in Varanasi. According to the Tourism Department, a total of 7,26,76,780 tourists visited the ghats and temples of Kashi in the year 2025. This figure also includes 2 crore 87 lakh devotees who came during the reverse flow of Prayagraj Mahakumbh, who also visited Kashi Vishwanath temple after bathing in Triveni Sangam.

The number of people visiting Kashi Vishwanath temple was highest during Mahashivratri festival and the holy month of Sawan. In view of the huge crowd of devotees, the temple administration and Kashi district administration had made special arrangements, due to which the darshan system remained smooth.
More than 30 lakh youth reached Kashi for New Year celebrations
The wave of cultural renaissance that has taken place during the tenure of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, its impact is especially visible in the young generation. There has been a significant increase in the faith of the youth towards religious places and pilgrimages.
Clear evidence of this was seen on the occasion of New Year. Between 24 December 2025 and 1 January 2026, 30,75,769 devotees visited Kashi Vishwanath Temple. A unique confluence of celebration and faith was seen in the Ganga ghats and temple premises.
The flow of devotees is increasing in every festival at the centers of Sanatan Aastha.
Vishwa Bhushan Mishra, Chief Executive Officer of Kashi Vishwanath Temple, said that Sanatan culture is the foundation of celebration, joy and faith. Many festivals of the world become especially lively by following the Sanatan tradition.
He said that in the present times, whether it is Indian festivals or Western festivals, the number of devotees at the centers of Sanatan Aastha is continuously increasing. Also, due to the efforts of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, Kashi-Prayagraj-Ayodhya is being developed as ‘Sacred Triangle’, due to which a huge increase in the number of tourists is being recorded in these three pilgrimages.
