Lucknow, 02 January. The telecom sector in Uttar Pradesh is continuously touching new heights. Mobile, broadband and fixed wireless access (FWA) services have now spread strongly across cities as well as villages. Government’s policy support and private investment have a big role behind this. For this reason, industrial and business activities are increasing rapidly in the state and Uttar Pradesh has made a strong identity in the major telecom markets of the country. The digital sector is getting a new direction from the development model of Yogi government.

Continuous increase in the number of mobile subscribers

According to data from the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI), the number of wireless mobile subscribers across the country increased to 1173.88 million in November 2025. In October 2025, this figure was 1171.87 million. In this, the participation of both Uttar Pradesh East and Uttar Pradesh West license service areas has been important. Uttar Pradesh remains the leader in the country in terms of consumer activities.

High demand for porting in UP East and West

By November 2025, 1.97 million mobile number porting requests were registered in Uttar Pradesh East and 1.35 million in Uttar Pradesh West. These figures clearly show that the demand for mobile services is continuously increasing in the state and consumers are rapidly shifting towards better networks and services.

UP’s strong position in 5G fixed wireless access

Uttar Pradesh’s position in fixed wireless access, especially 5G based services, is continuously strengthening. The total number of 5G FWA subscribers in the country was recorded at 10.41 million by the end of November 2025. This includes 0.79 million consumers in Uttar Pradesh East and 0.62 million consumers in Uttar Pradesh West. The addition of thousands of new consumers in just one month shows the success of the government’s digital connectivity policy.

High-speed internet access to rural areas

With high-speed internet reaching remote villages, new avenues of education, health and employment are opening up. The benefits of online studies, tele-medicine and digital services are now reaching rural areas, due to which the digital divide is gradually reducing.

Steady growth in wireline services also

Uttar Pradesh has also registered steady growth in the field of wireline services. By the end of November 2025, the total number of wireline subscribers in the country stood at 47.05 million. There is a demand for wireline connections in government offices, educational institutions, industrial units and urban residential areas in the state.

Need for secure connectivity increases with e-governance

With the large-scale implementation of e-governance services by the Yogi government, the need for reliable and secure connectivity has increased. For this reason, the wireline network has also been strengthened and the scope of digital government services is continuously increasing.

UP also ahead in active mobile users

Uttar Pradesh’s position also remains strong in terms of active mobile subscribers. By November 2025, 1090.91 million mobile subscribers were found to be active in the country. The role of mobile networks is becoming increasingly important in areas like online government services, digital payments, e-education and tele-medicine.

Digital infrastructure becomes the basis of development

Under the leadership of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, the state government has made digital infrastructure a major means of economic development. Expansion of optical fiber network, increase in the number of mobile towers and promotion of 5G technology are creating new opportunities for investment and employment in Uttar Pradesh.
