Ramayan Story: Ravana was the conqueror of Trilok. There was no one in the world who was a greater Pandit and devotee of Shiva than him. He cut off his head and offered it to Lord Shankar. Ravana had performed rigorous penance for Brahma ji and Mahadev and obtained boons from them. To end Ravana and re-establish religion on earth, Lord Shri Hari Vishnu took the seventh incarnation in the form of Lord Shri Ram in Tretayuga.

Ravana knew that his end would be at the hands of Lord Rama, the incarnation of Lord Vishnu. According to Ramayana, after a time and an incident, Ravana also came to know that Shri Hari Vishnu had incarnated on earth in the form of Shri Ram. Let us know what was that incident due to which Ravana understood that the incarnation of Lord Shri Ram had taken place.

Surpanakha’s nose cutting incident

In Ramayana, there is an incident of Lakshman cutting off the nose of Ravana’s sister Shurpanakha. According to Ramayana, this incident happened in Panchavati during exile. Shurpanakha saw Lord Ram, Lakshman and Sita ji in the forest. Then she disguised herself and went to him in the form of a beautiful woman. After this he proposed marriage to Lord Ram. The Lord refused him citing Sita ji. Then she went to Lakshman ji.

When both of them refused, Shurpanakha tried to attack Sita ji by insulting her. After this, Lakshman ji got angry and cut off the nose of Shurpanakha. Jagadguru Hariprapanna Charya Maharaj told that Shurpanakha reached her brother Ravana with her severed nose. Then he told Ravana that brother, my nose was cut. Now save your nose. Hearing this, Ravana told Shurpanakha that you did not go to Khar Dushan.

Ravana got the knowledge of Narayan taking incarnation.

Shurpanakha replied to Ravana that both of them were killed. Ravana was shocked to hear this and said, “Sister, you go, I will see it tomorrow.” After this Ravana came to know that Narayan had taken incarnation. There is a quatrain regarding this in Ramcharit Manas, “Sur Ranjan Bhanjan Mahi Bhara, Jaun Raghuvansh Linh Avtara.” Ravana thought that a single man had killed these heroes. This means that Narayan has taken incarnation.
