Kamakhya Temple Ambubachi Mela 2026: Kamakhya Devi Temple is considered one of the 51 Shaktipeeths. This temple is situated on the Neelachal Hills of Guwahati, Assam. This temple is said to be quite different from other temples. No idol is worshiped in this temple, rather a vagina shaped stone is worshipped, which is considered a symbol of feminine power and the source of life. Devotees come from far and wide to visit this Shaktipeeth. A huge crowd of saints and tantrikas gather here.

Every year the Ambubachi fair is held here, which is considered one of the largest fairs of North-East India. The temple remains closed during this period. It is believed that at this time Goddess Rajsala is present. During this time, thousands of devotees, sages, saints and tantrics reach here and the atmosphere becomes completely devotional. Next month in June, Ambubachi fair will be organized from 22nd to 26th.

Goddess’s time of rest

Ambubachi fair will start on the night of 26th June, which will end at sunrise on 26th June. The temple will remain closed during this period. Because it is believed that this is the time when the goddess is going through her menstruation. Therefore this time is considered to be the time of goddess’s rest. There are no prayers or special rituals in the temple for three days. On the fourth day, after special purification rituals, the temple opens and devotees have darshan of the goddess.
