On December 31, Khokon Das, 50, was attacked by a mob and set on fire in Shariatpur district. Khokon Das, who suffered severe burn injuries, was immediately admitted to the hospital. This incident is the third attack on the Hindu community in the last 12 days: 18 December: Dipu Chandra Das was beaten to death in Mymensingh and the body was hanged on a tree and set on fire. 24 December: Amrit Mandal lynched in Rajbari district. 29 December: Bajendra Biswas shot dead in Mymensingh district.
