‘2025 Has Been Unforgettable.’: Phuc Huynh Reflects on Breakout Year in Asian Pickleball

Vietnamese pickleball player Phuc Huynh emerged as one of the breakout stars of the Asian circuit in 2025, finishing third in the overall standings of the inaugural PPA Tour Asia.

Huynh won gold medals at two PPA Tour Asia events, the MB Vietnam Cup and the MB Vietnam Open. He also secured a silver medal at the Sansan Fukuoka Open and reached the quarterfinals of the Panas Malaysia Cup. Only Hong Kong’s Jack Wong Hong-kit and fellow Vietnamese player Hoang Nam Ly finished ahead of him in the rankings.

The 2025 season also saw Huynh feature in the Indian Pickleball League (IPBL), where he represented Bengaluru Blasters in New Delhi. His performances played a key role in keeping the franchise in contention through the round-robin league, even though the team did not progress to win the title. His recent showing at the Vietnam Masters added to his consistent run of form. Huynh also drew attention to his performances at the IPBL, where he received strong support from the crowd.

The year marked Huynh’s first full season living and competing in Vietnam, a period he described as personally and professionally significant. Taking to social media, the 23-year-old reflected on the milestones of the year and the growth of pickleball in the country.

“2025 has been an unforgettable year. So many memories, new friendships, and goals achieved that I once only dreamed about,” Huynh wrote on social media. “This was my first full year living in Vietnam full time, and being able to grow both personally and professionally here has meant everything to me.”

He also pointed to the rapid rise of the sport in the region. “Watching the rise and explosive growth of pickleball in Vietnam has been absolutely unreal, and I’m proud to be part of this movement as the sport continues to reach new levels,” he wrote further.

Huynh acknowledged that the season challenged him both on and off the court, while also thanking those who supported him through the year.

“2025 pushed me in the best ways possible on and off the court, and I learned how much more there is to chase,” he wrote, while expressing gratitude to his sponsors, Pickleball D-Joy and Zocker Pickleball Việt Nam, and to his fans.

“Your encouragement gives me so much energy to keep pushing forward and striving even harder on the journey ahead,” Huynh added.

Looking forward to the 2026 season, the World No. 46 said his focus is on improving his performance in the new year. “2025 was just the beginning,” Huynh wrote. “My goal moving forward is simple: to work harder than ever, stay hungry, and do everything I can to make 2026 an even better year, not just for myself, but for the growth of pickleball in Vietnam and beyond.”
