New Delhi: Zoho Vembu founder Sridhar Vembu has started 2026 with a new change to Arattai, the privacy-centric messaging and calling application at the company. In a post about the New Year on X, Vembu said that the Arattai is now offered on Android TV, making the app available on the largest screen in the house, not just phones and desktops.
Through this release, Arattai will be able to establish itself as an alternative to WhatsApp that can be used on TVs. The Android TV version enables its users to make one-on-one video calls and participate in scheduled meetings directly through their TV via the Android interface, which is simple to use and is designed to work on big screens.

Arattai arrives on Android TV
The new Android TV application is designed to be used with the televisions, and it is possible to operate it with the help of the regular TV remote. It can also be used at home and in small office facilities because users do not have to use a phone to join or start a meeting. Zoho has reported that this release is dedicated to video calling, and other capabilities will be included in the updates.
How to install Arattai on Android TV
All that users have to do is to open the Google Play Store on the Android TV and search for Arattai. The app is installed and may then be opened like any other TV application. Arattai appears with a QR code on the first launch without requiring the user to input the details of the login.
The user may scan the QR code under the Arattai mobile application under the Devices section to sign in. Instead, they may go to the Arattai TV checking page on a phone or a computer and enter the shown code on the TV. Upon verification, the application automatically connects with the account of the user.
What users can do on the TV app
After signing in, the Arattai Android TV application shows current and future meetings that are associated with the account. Participants are able to attend a meeting with a single click. The app has a preview screen before entering it, where it is possible to turn on or off the microphone and camera.
On-screen controls are provided during the calls so that the user can easily mute audio, control video and leave the meeting. The app also contains access to recorded meetings which can be replayed on the TV.
Arattai is a product compatible with Android 7 or above TVs. The app is compatible with external USB webcams and external audio devices due to the fact that most TVs lack inbuilt cameras. This enables it to be used in video calls, meetings and shared viewing without extra complicated installation.
