Flying with Air India to the US, Canada, Europe, the UK, or Australia just became a little cheaper. The airline has reduced fuel surcharges on these routes from July 1 after global oil prices eased over the past few weeks, according to sources.
The surcharge for flights to North America and Australia has been lowered to USD 200 per ticket from USD 280. In Europe and the UK, the charge has dropped from USD 205 to USD 125.
Why the Surcharge Is Being Reduced
Air India introduced higher fuel surcharges in April after jet fuel prices spiked during the West Asia conflict, while airspace restrictions also increased operating costs on many long-haul routes.
With fuel prices now easing, the airline has rolled back part of that extra charge for passengers travelling on its longest international sectors. Air India has not officially commented on the latest revision.
