Tariff War: The US has decided to impose 50% tariff on India which has been implemented since August 27, 2025. Of this, 25% of it is applied as penalty. The US says that India is buying oil from Russia and this is helping Russia in Ukraine War.
What did JD Vance say about the tariff?
US Vice President JD Vance said that President Donald Trump imposed the tariff so that the pressure on Russia would increase and he came on talks to stop the war. According to Vance, if the Russia stops the war, it can be included in the global economy or else it will be isolated.

India has repeatedly stated that it is its right to buy oil from Russia. Foreign Minister S. He described America’s allegations as ridiculous and said that if anyone does not like to buy oil from India, then it is not compulsion. In simple words, the US imposed a tariff on India to put pressure on Russia, while India says that its oil purchases are both in the interest of both national and global.
