Wimbledon 2025: Carlos Alcaraz outclasses Jan-Lennard Struff, Sabalenka beats Raducanu

New Delhi: Defending champion Carlos Alcaraz defeated Jan-Lennard Struff in the hard-fought match to qualify for the fourth round of the men’s singles event at Wimbledon 2025 on Friday, July 4. The Spaniard extended his career-best winning streak to 21 matches as he beat Struff 6-1, 3-6, 6-3, 6-4.

The Spaniard won 17 consecutive matches at Wimbledon and is aiming to become the fifth man in the Open Era to win a hat-trick of titles at the Grass major. He was facing the German for the fifth time in his career, and the No.2 seed was aggressive from the beginning of the match.

The German struggled against Alcaraz as he made him run from one corner to the other and broke him twice in the opening set. However, there was a little break in his rhythm during the second set. The World No.2 managed to win only 53 per cent of his first-serve points in the second set and struggled to challenge the serves from his opponent.

However, after a little struggle, Alcaraz made a comeback in the third set and dominated the fourth set against German to end the match in two hours and 25 minutes and progress. He will take on Andrey Rublev in the fourth round.

Aryna Sabalenka advances to fourth round

The World No. 1 Aryna Sabalenka defeated home favourite Emma Raducanu 7-6 (7-6) 6-4 in a thrilling third-round match. The 22-year-old played brilliant tennis under the roof but failed to apply the finishing touches.

The first set took more than 70 minutes, with Raducanu saving seven set points. She was also leading 4-1 in the second set, but Sabalenka made a stunning comeback to set up a fourth-round match with Elise Mertens. Raducanu had the top seed under pressure throughout the game, but too many errors in the game cost her the match.
