Bhubaneswar.BJP MP Sambit Patra on Wednesday launched a scathing attack on West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee. He accused Mamata of “threatening” not only Union Home Minister Amit Shah, but the entire country. Speaking at a press conference after a heated exchange between Amit Shah and Mamata Banerjee over “illegal infiltrators” and SIR, Sambit Patra said, “Mamata Banerjee threatened the Home Minister of India. She said, ‘You were hiding inside a hotel. If we wanted, you would not have been able to step out of the hotel, and you are lucky that we let you go from the hotel.’ This is not the first time that something like this has happened.
He said, “You are not threatening Amit Shah, you are threatening India. BJP will form the government in West Bengal with two-thirds majority. In West Bengal, Mamata Banerjee and her TMC goons have killed more than 300 BJP workers and accused them of saving “illegal infiltrators”. They have a problem with the names of infiltrators being removed from the voter list. Mamata Banerjee has ruined West Bengal. As the political fight intensifies ahead of the 2026 assembly elections in the state, Union Home Minister Amit Shah and West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee launched sharp attacks at each other on Tuesday. Shah launched a scathing attack on the Mamata Banerjee-led TMC government, saying “fear and corruption” have become the hallmark of the state for the last 14 years. He also questioned his stand on the alleged infiltration of illegal immigrants into the state. He also accused his government of refusing to give land to build border fencing.
Amit Shah said, “Development has stalled in West Bengal due to corruption under the Mamata Banerjee-led government in the state. All the beneficial schemes launched by Modi have become victims of toll syndicates here. Fear and corruption have become the identity of West Bengal for the last 14 years. After April 15, 2026, when the BJP government is formed in West Bengal, we will start reviving the heritage and culture of Bengal. This ‘Bang Bhoomi’ holds great importance for us because BJP was formed by Dr. Shyama Prasad Mukherjee, who was a big leader here.”
Mamata Banerjee strongly responded to his comments and compared BJP leaders to the characters Duryodhana and Dushasan from the epic Mahabharata. Responding to Shah’s allegations, he said the TMC government has given land for fencing in Petrapole and Andal. A misrule has come in Bengal. As soon as the elections come, Dushasan and Duryodhana start appearing. Dushasan has arrived, Shakuni’s disciple, who has come to gather information. Today they are saying that Mamata Banerjee did not give the land. What would have happened if I had not given the land? Who gave the land in Petrapole? Who gave the land in Andal?” Special intensive revision of voter list and influx of immigrants into West Bengal have become hot issues, which can become election issues in the upcoming 2026 assembly elections in the state.
