New Year’s gift to Indigo pilots, huge increase in salary, effective from January 1

In a way, Indigo has given a New Year gift to the pilots. In fact, Indigo has announced a comprehensive amendment in the allowances of pilots, which will be effective from January 1, 2026.

Indigo claims that this decision will result in a significant increase in the take-home salary of the pilots. For the first time, the airline company has implemented a clear system of night allowance. Indigo says that detailed description of all these changes will be updated in the Pilot Administration Handbook soon. It is believed that this increase in allowances will play an important role in increasing the satisfaction of pilots and avoiding such crises in future. This step of IndiGo has been taken keeping in mind the new Flight Duty Time Limitation (FDTL) rules and shortage of pilots.

Big increase in domestic layover allowance

Indigo has made a big increase in domestic layover allowance. Now, for layovers up to 24 hours, the Captain will get Rs 3,000 per hour and the First Officer will get Rs 1,500 per hour. Earlier these rates were Rs 2,000 and Rs 1,000 respectively. Whereas for every additional hour beyond 24 hours, Captain will be given Rs 150 and First Officer will be given Rs 75. Deadhead allowance has also been increased, where captains will now get Rs 4,000 and first officers will get Rs 2,000 per scheduled block hour.

New structure of night, tail-swap and transit allowance

According to Indigo Airline, now for night duty between 6 pm to 6 am, Captain will be given Rs 2,000 and First Officer will be given Rs 1,000 per night hour. Apart from this, Captain will get Rs 1,500 and First Officer will get Rs 750 per tail-swap in sectors other than deadhead. Domestic transit allowance has also been fixed, in which the captain will get Rs 1,000 and the first officer will get Rs 500 per hour for transit more than 90 minutes.

Thousands of flights were canceled due to shortage of pilots

Indigo says that due to shortage of pilots in recent months, the company had to cancel thousands of flights, due to which passengers also had to face problems. But gradually it is improving. Indigo said that the airline is rapidly recruiting pilots. He claims that operations will be completely stable by February 2026.
