In the year 2025, Yogi government took historic decisions for the farmers. The farmers of Uttar Pradesh were empowered by loans at 6% interest, increase in sugarcane prices, scientists reaching the fields, distribution of seeds and agricultural equipment.
Lucknow. In Uttar Pradesh, blessed by the grace of God and nature, the Yogi government considers farmers as paramount. Under the leadership of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, the government is continuously working to increase the income of farmers, reduce costs and empower farming with modern technology.
Under the guidance of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the year 2025 was historic for the agriculture sector. To achieve the goal of one trillion dollar economy, agriculture has also been made the main basis of development. For the first time under the leadership of the double engine government, agricultural scientists came out of the laboratories and reached the farmers’ fields directly.
Big relief to farmers: Loan will be available from LDB at only 6% interest
Under the International Cooperative Year 2025, on December 21, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath made a big announcement for small and marginal farmers. Under the Chief Minister Krishak Samriddhi Yojana, farmers will now get loan from UP Cooperative Gram Vikas Bank (LDB) at only 6 percent interest rate. Earlier this loan was available at 11.50 percent interest. The remaining amount of interest will be borne by the state government. With this decision, farmers will get cheaper loans and they will be able to invest more in farming.
Big benefit to sugarcane farmers: Increase in sugarcane price by ₹ 30 per quintal
Yogi government has taken another historic decision in the interest of sugarcane farmers. The sugarcane price has been increased by Rs 30 per quintal for the crushing season 2025-26.
- Early sugarcane variety: ₹400 per quintal
- Common sugarcane variety: ₹390 per quintal
With this decision, farmers will get additional payment of about ₹3,000 crore. This is the fourth time during the tenure of Yogi government that sugarcane price has been increased, which will give new strength to the rural economy.
Vikas Krishi Sankalp Abhiyaan: Scientists reach farmers’ fields
Vikas Krishi Sankalp Abhiyan was launched for the first time in the year 2025 under the guidance of the Central Government. This campaign was conducted from 29 May to 12 June in 14,170 villages of Uttar Pradesh. During this period, direct communication was held with 23.30 lakh farmers. For the first time, agricultural scientists came out of the ‘lab’ and reached the ‘land’. The campaign was launched by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath. Union Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chauhan, Agriculture Minister Surya Pratap Shahi and many public representatives interacted directly with the farmers.
Seed park and new agricultural laboratories in memory of Chaudhary Charan Singh
To keep the memory of former Prime Minister Bharat Ratna Chaudhary Charan Singh alive, a seed park based on modern technology is being established in Attari, Lucknow. On Kisan Samman Diwas (23 December), the Chief Minister started the process of allotment of its plot. Apart from this, 31 acres of land was identified for a state-of-the-art tissue culture lab in Barabanki and in-principle approval was given for the establishment of Basmati seed production and training center on 7 acres in Tanda Bijesi, Pilibhit. This center will be operated by APEDA, where improved seeds will be developed and farmers will be trained in modern farming.
PM Kisan Samman Nidhi: Farmers of UP benefit the most
Farmers of Uttar Pradesh have got the maximum benefit from the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi Yojana, which is included in the world’s largest DBT schemes. In the 21 installments released so far, an amount of ₹94,668.58 crore has been sent directly into the accounts of about 3.12 crore farmers.
Farmers’ production increased due to grants and free seed distribution
The focus of Yogi government is on reducing costs and increasing production. In the year 2025-26, 1.23 lakh quintals in Kharif, 10.08 lakh quintals in Rabi – a total of 11.31 lakh quintals were distributed on seed subsidy. Compared to last year, 2.61 lakh quintals more seeds were distributed. Along with this, 10.11 lakh seed minikits were given free of cost to the farmers to promote pulses, oilseeds and grain. With the cooperation of the Central Government, 2.43 lakh minikits of pulse crops were also distributed.
Promotion of modern farming through distribution of agricultural equipment
Yogi government is also providing modern agricultural equipment to the farmers. From 2017-18 to 2024-25 – 2.31 lakh advanced agricultural equipment, 8,405 custom hiring centers and 7,351 farm machinery banks were established. Till November in the year 2025-26, 9,308 agricultural implements and 83 new farm machinery bills have been uploaded on the bank’s bill portal.
