New Year 2026: As soon as the New Year arrives, a wonderful scene of religious faith is seen in the country’s capital Delhi. From the night of 31st December till the morning of 1st January, thousands and lakhs of devotees flock to the major temples of Delhi for darshan. People want to leave behind the problems of the past year and start the new year with God’s blessings. For this reason, special crowd is seen at religious places like Jhandewalan Temple to Chhatarpur Temple, Kalkaji, Akshardham and Birla Temple.
Jhandewalan Devi Temple (Karol Bagh)
Jhandewalan Temple located in Karol Bagh is one of the oldest and revered temples of Delhi. On the occasion of New Year, devotees start gathering here from 3 am in the morning to participate in the morning Mangala Aarti. The temple is lavishly decorated with flowers and colorful lights. In view of the huge crowd, there are strict security arrangements here.
Shri Maa Katyayani Shaktipeeth (Chhatarpur Temple)
Chhatarpur Temple located in South Delhi is known for its grand architecture and huge complex. It is one of the largest temple complexes in India. On New Year, people from every corner of Delhi-NCR come here to seek blessings of Maa Katyayani. Special barricading is done in the huge courtyard of the temple for crowd management so that the devotees can easily have darshan.
Kalkaji Temple (Nehru Place)
Kalkaji Temple, famous as Manokamna Siddhpeeth, sees immense devotion of devotees on the New Year. It is believed that paying obeisance here brings happiness and prosperity throughout the year.
Swaminarayan Akshardham Temple
If you want to experience peace and grandeur along with spirituality, then Akshardham Temple is a great option. Thousands of tourists and devotees reach here on New Year. A huge crowd also gathers here to see the water show and exhibition. Keep in mind that carrying mobile and electronic devices is prohibited here.

Birla Temple (Lakshmi Narayan Temple)
Birla Temple located near Connaught Place is the main center of devotees on New Year. This temple dedicated to Lord Vishnu and Goddess Lakshmi is known for its peace and beauty. Special puja and kirtan is organized here on New Year, in which foreign tourists also come in large numbers to participate.
Important tips for devotees
Arrive early: To avoid crowd, it is best to visit between 5 am to 7 am.
Use of public transport: Parking can be a huge problem near temples, so it would be wise to use Delhi Metro.
